That’s why we created a workshop to help you best capitalize on the blank slate that is the new school year.

Back to school is always an exciting time. New clothes. Fresh schedules. The optimism that this year will be different. It will be better.

But, let’s be real, it can also be turbulent and overwhelming. It prompts new routines, new expectations, and can bring up old fears around low academic performance and other EF challenges. Within this workshop, you will learn the strategies that will ensure that your family's back to school experience is most the successful yet.

You will not only learn the strategies needed to start the school year right, but be able to learn from, talk to, and meet other parents going through the same things.

Here is what you need to know.

What kind of workshop is this?

This is a workshop for parents of students with low Executive Functioning (EF) related to ADHD, anxiety, and/or other compounding factors. Each workshop will:

  • Have a maximum of 10 families

  • Last 90 minutes

  • Be both instructional and provide space to discuss and reflect on certain topics

What am I going to learn?

You will become better informed about your child’s unique needs and develop clear strategies to ensure that your back to school experience is as smooth as possible, including:

  • The Foundations of EF

  • ADHD, anxiety, and EF: How they interact and why it matters.

  • Motivation: What is it and how to prevent motivation breakdowns and procrastination.

  • The Teenage Brain: Understanding why your child may be so sensitive as well as the root causes of defensive behavior and how to reduce it.

  • Communication Strategies: How to reduce tension around school, including how to talk about grades and ask about homework without causing a fight.

  • Time Management Strategies: How to solidify routines around starting homework and checking their planner as well as how to help them better approach their work.

  • Creating a Successful Home Environment: How to establish boundaries around screens, expectations around where to work, and other expectations that are critical for success.

  • Upholding Expectations: How to reinforce those expectations in a way that doesn't make you the bad guy and actually motivates them.

When does it take place?

We know that the few weeks leading up to the start of school are always so hectic. For that reason, we are offering three different dates for you to attend:

Where does the group meet?

The workshop will be virtual and you will receive a Zoom link when you sign up.
