We created a group workshop for you, for parents with children who struggle with ADHD and low Executive Functioning.

We work with so many families who are navigating the challenges of parenting children with ADHD and low Executive Functioning (EF). It can be so hard to know how to feel about your child’s behavior, how to best understand them, and how to respond without inciting all that tension. This is why we have collaborated with the wonderful professionals at Colorful Minds, LLC

Katie Abney LPC, LMFT-S & Amanda Gane LCSW-S are seasoned therapists who specialize in ADHD, the Nurtured Heart Approach, and parenting strategies. Together we have created a collaborative group workshop for Encompass parents to learn more about these topics and to create a safe space for discussion.

So often the focus is on your child.

This is for you to have a safe space to learn, to talk, to meet other parents like you, and to process your experiences as a parent.

Here is what you need to know.

What is it exactly?

A collaboration between Encompass (EF) and Colorful Minds (therapy). We have joined in our expertise to create this group workshop for Encompass parents of students with ADHD and low EF.

Each group will consist of a maximum of 6 parents.

The workshop is a combination of psycho-education and group activities to practice, discuss, and reinforce skills.

What are we going to do or learn about?

The aim is to educate parents and give them the opportunity to discuss issues surrounding ADHD, Executive Functioning, the Nurtured Heart Approach, coparenting, and the social emotional piece that drives personal feelings and family dynamics. The outcome of the group is that parents are more informed and have cogent strategies for a healthy and functioning family dynamic, including:

  • Developing solid skills to manage challenging behavior.

  • Recognizing triggers and avoiding getting into battles with your child around rules, homework and other daily tasks.

  • Co-Parenting best practices.

  • Setting firm and fair boundaries that are manageable by everyone in the family.

  • Improving your relationship with your child and helping them to be their ‘best selves’.

When does it take place?

We will be announcing the next workshop soon.

Where does the group meet?

At the offices of Colorful Minds: 5000 Bee Caves Road, Suite 104 Austin, Texas 78746
